When travelling 'ensemble' its can be difficult to find hip hotels that will cater to a family's need for space, comfort and well... a second bathroom. Often style is sacrificed for comfort. I've never really been a fan a chain hotels but a recent stay at the Radisson Mayfair was quite a treat.
We booked not long after their £70 million refurbishment, lots of beautiful leather chairs, chandeliers by Baccarat and paintings from St. Petersburg, I'm told.
Their special 'Family Rooms' features two double beds. Our room on the 8th floor provided two large Italian marble bathrooms, one with a bathtub, always important for kids, plus a TV installed in the lovely marble work. I could only configure Cartoon Network so bath-time has never been the same for my kids.
Baccarat
The two Queen size double beds ensure there's none of that of that 'rolling in and rolling out'. So, if they are not tired after six hours of stomping the streets a London a little bed jumping should do the trick.
A family holiday, did not allow my husband and I to experience half of what was on offer like the groovy Bar areas, the beauty salon and opposite, the famous Nobu, a Japanese restaurant owned by Madonna, we could see the 'comings and goings' from our room but thought better to take two kids under 8 for Saki and Sushi with prices staring at around £9 for an appetiser.
The hotel is well positioned in the beautiful Mayfair district and possible to walk to most attractions, Regent street, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace are all within five minutes, ok ten with really little ones. Mayfair, is very exclusive with lots of lovely antique galleries and fine restaurants however, you will also several Starbucks and Fish and Chip diners near the hotel. Opposite the hotel is a supermarket for afternoon snacks and drinks so you're not raiding the mini bar.
Location: Stratton Street, in the heart of one of London's most expensive enclaves.
